A private social survey institute conducted a mini-comparative study on regular satellite/cable TV users against Satellite Direct users. The researchers gathered 50 participants, 25 of who were given a 1 month free subscription of their local satellite/cable TV Company of choice while the other 25 were given the Satellite Direct software for them to use on their computers. The participants were all asked to sign an agreement that allowed the researchers to call on them weekly for interview sessions regarding their mode of watching TV.

When it was time to go home to test out cable TV and Satellite Direct, the two participant groups quickly found out that that both services were actually quite different from each other. First off, when it came to the installation process, for cable TV, a technician had to do it and this may take from 5 minutes to 20 minutes. This is always the procedure for all cable TV providers so the participants who got regular cable TV had to wait for the technicians to finish installing the cable boxes. Now for those who got Satellite Direct, they were able to install the software within a couple of minutes and so they were able to check it out right away. This was just one of the many problems reported by the cable TV users.

A week passed and was already time for the researchers to carry out the first round of assessments for both participant groups. After the routine check, researchers found out that 25 participants who got Satellite Direct were able to get hundreds more working international channels while the 25 other participants who were hooked up with cable TV got stuck with just a handful of international channels that weren’t available on certain times of the day throughout the week. A number of cable TV users also commented on the clarity of some channels. They said that most of the time, the channels were either scrambled or were just too blurry or do not have signals, impossible to be viewed by them.

Each week, new problems were reported by the cable TV users. The problems they had were never, even for once, encountered by those who were using Satellite Direct. After a month, all of the 50 participants were once again asked to gather together to conduct the final assessment. Once all the data was gathered by the researchers, the researchers concluded that Satellite Direct is a much more reliable mode of TV viewing compared to satellite/cable TV. When people from the cable TV user group were asked if they were willing to continue with the cable TV service they were on now, 100% said no and that they will change to Satellite Direct TV.
